Archbishop Shelton appointed Fr. David Sánchez as Pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in June 21, 2023.
Father Sánchez, born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, was ordained on June 8, 2002 in the Archdiocese of Louisville has the first Hispanic priest. He attended St. Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology in St. Meinrad, Indiana. In 2018, he earned a Master in Ecclesial Administration and Management from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. He served as the Vice President of the National Association of Hispanic Priests from 2018-2023. Father Sánchez has a Masters of Public Health in Biostatistics from the University of Puerto Rico, 1991.
He has served as pastor of the Church of the Annunciation (Shelbyville) and St. John Chrysostom (Eminence), 2020-2023. St. Joseph Catholic Church (Louisville), 2006-2020, Holy Name (Louisville), 2008-2018. He was associate pastor at Holy Spirit (Louisville), 2004-2006; and St. Augustine (Lebanon), 2002-2024.
Previously, he served in the U.S. Army Chaplain Corps, and worked in Pharmaceuticals. His major hobbies are Crossfit, traveling the world, and walking his dog Maximus, the Confessor.
